Some pics from the trip from Dallas to SF. Thinking about writing a BAT success story. Just realized I am in none of these pics.

It needs to come back up about .5 cm. Too low for CA roads.

OH MY GOD THAT PAINT!

I always thought they called the paint on the M3 and M5 both Techno Violet, but apparently the M5 is Daytona Violet. Who knew? No idea what if anything the color difference is, but never knew that until I was looking at this car on BAT.

California is car meca. Every car I like on BAT is always in CA. You couldn’t find something already there? You just had to take one of the good ones from the rest of us?

In fairness it went from CA to TX last owner so it’s spiritually coming home.

Interesting, did not know that either! I love the color though, purples are criminally underrated on cars.

Is this one of the last big ass straight sixes? Sweet looking M5, was one of my favorite cars as a teenager.

They’re slightly different, and you can tell them apart next to each other, but it’s really hard to tell in pictures. Techno is a lot more pearlescent and metallic—it looks much brighter/shinier in direct sunlight. Daytona is metallic too but less so, and it’s flatter, richer, more consistent in different lights (“flatter and richer” is not a contradiction—I mean it’s flatter in the sense that it’s one deep red-purple shade, not a purple base with a really obvious and sparkly layer of blue and silver metallic flakes). I’ve heard Daytona described as being the purple in the M stripes, and nothing more. I like them both but prefer Daytona.
There’s actually a third purple you occasionally see on mid-90s M cars, Madeira, but it’s so much darker/bluer you wouldn’t mistake it for the other two.
/end BMW /M nerd stuff

I’d expect nothing less here on OPPO!
